Out of Focus - Masham Players Spring Production 2010

Another brilliant performance by Masham Players www.mashamplayers.co.uk
Under the expert direction of Marjorie Tate, members old and new took the audience by storm.

Out of Focus written by Peter Gordon is a delightful satire of village life. When village groups clash (and don't they just) over the use of the church hall, pandemonium breaks loose. A wonderful mix of characters all with foibles and agenda's of their own!

Due to the severe winter weather when most of the cast members were snowed in and couldn't rehearse for about a month, it's nothing short of a miracle that the play actually happened. Well done!

Masham Players new chairman Ron Smith should be very proud.

The Cast:
Lin Blyth, Luke Charles, Pam Grimsditch, Rob Hall, Kirsty Hallett, Kathryn Holland, Helen Kennedy, Ron Smith, Jonathan Trenholme.

Masham Players - Happy Families Autumn 2009

The cast line up for their third encore!

Masham Players Autumn Production of Happy Families by John Godber went down a storm last Thursday night. They played to a full house and had several well deserved curtain calls.

Happy Families follows the life of John, the son of Dot and Vic, from childhood to adulthood. John was brilliantly played by Richard Bailey, and the audience immediately warmed to him.

Other cast members were:
Jenny Bellamy
Jonathan Trenholme
Jill Davis
Brian Howard Gregg
Jacqui Hedley
Susan Smith
Kathryn Carter
Saffron-Skye Headley

Congratulations to the director Julie Prescott who, in my opinion, cast this play perfectly. And to the cast for their hilarious, and poignant performance. I am a big fan of 'The Royle Family' and this play was definitely on a par with them.

I shall never drink Earl Grey again without laughing, and you might guess that in our house it has now become Early Grey!
And, I can remember drinking Rington's Tea during my childhood.

Another great production, however, I was disappointed again that our National Anthem wasn't played prior to the performance. It used to be - why the change?

Ripon Gazette

Look what I saw today when I went to Masham newsagents to collect my newspaper.

I just had to go home, grab my camera, and go back to get a shot.

Well done Masham Players for putting on a great performance, and good on the Ripon Gazette for telling the world via this billboard!

Note these dates in your diary. The Autumn Production will be performed in Masham Town Hall on 19th 20th and 21st November 2009.

Masham Musical Society 2008 Annual Concert

On Saturday night I had the pleasure of attending Masham Musical Society's Annual Concert. The concert was billed as Now and Then.

This year they had a new conductor Mr. Jonathon Heitler and a new accompanist Mr. Anthony Rudd. Not only that, but they also had four new members. One was Sat Nav (Gloria) who had been practicing not only at rehearsals, but also at home for weeks. Of course she had me singing along too. We Gathered Lilacs in the kitchen, Ruled Britannia regularly. Razzle Dazzled Katie (our horse) in the stable, and were sure our neighbours were wondering Why Must The Show Go On? But they must have been relieved to hear that Christmas is Coming.

But seriously . . . that should give you some idea of the content of the night.

I wish I had taken my Union flag to wave when they sang Rule Britannia, but never daunted Brian and I waved our programmes ;-)

Their performance was absolutely fabulous! If you were in the audience you should Consider Yourself very lucky indeed.
And I'm not just saying that because Sat Nav made her debut with the society - it's true!

Congratulations and well done to everyone.

Masham Players Spring Production 2008

Our spring play for 2008 is the gentle comedy "The Bolt Hole" by Langton
Smith. This is a three act play set in an isolated farm house on Dartmoor
and has a cast of four women and five men.

The reading for the play was held in January and was well attended. Since
then rehearsals have been progressing steadily with a good deal of fun and
laughter. In addition to 'old hands' we are pleased to welcome a new
producer, Susan Rouse, plus four newcomers to the Masham stage.

We wish them all the best and feel sure that they will all enjoy their first experience of "treading the boards" at the Town Hall . . . and we all know what that feels like ;-)

Venue: The Town Hall, Masham, North Yorkshire.
Performance dates: March 13th, 14th, and 15th.
Curtain up at 7.30pm. sharp!
Tickets on sale from Marsden Pharmacy, Market Place, Masham, during normal business hours.

U2 UK

Last Saturday night Sat Nav and I, along with our friend Brian, went to see U2 UK and what a performance they gave. It was the first dance night I'd had in ages and my feet were screaming for mercy at the end of it . . . in fact they are still screaming, which means I had a good night ;-)

The audience was with this band all of the way and if you get a chance to see them . . . GO! They have a terrific sound and are not to be missed.

It was great to catch up with our friends Andy and Shaun - thanks Andy for taking the pics . . . you're getting better ;-) I hope the ones I took on your camera came out well, fingers crossed eh!

ELO Experience at Masham Town Hall

Due to the earlier book signing we missed the first half of the ELO Experience at Masham Town Hall, but what we did see was very good.

There was a great crowd in who obviously enjoyed and appreciated this band's performance. I had a few dances after borrowing my friend's husband - thanks Mandy you know he's safe with me lol!!! It was good to catch up with Shaun and Andy, albeit briefly.
